Job Summary: The City of Laguna Beach is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join its Finance Department. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity through complex accounting tasks such as preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial records and reports.


Ideal candidates will bring strong technical accounting knowledge—preferably in a government setting—along with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.


Location: 505 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, CA 92651

Employment Type: Full-Time

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university

  • Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, preferably in government accounting

  • License: CPA preferred, not required

  • Equivalency: CPA license or a Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for up to two years of experience


Additional Information: This recruitment will create an eligibility list for future positions. Applicants selected for further consideration will participate in a structured panel interview. Final candidates must pass a fingerprint background check and verification of education and employment.
