LITERACY EXPERT/SPECIALIST

NON-EXEMPT


SALARY RANGE:

$35.00/hour


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Hazel Miller Croy Reading Center Director, the Literacy Expert will provide assessment and intervention to community children participating in the HMC Reading Center and other community outreach programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide literacy intervention for the community children and support for families receiving services provided by the HMC Reading Center.

  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • California teaching credential or equivalent, Reading & Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience teaching literacy and reading skills to linguistically and culturally diverse school-aged students.

  • Experience using current technology to support teaching and learning.

  • Experience working within an ethnically and culturally diverse community.


EDUCATION:

  • Minimum M.A. or M.S. in Education with a concentration in Literacy and Reading.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting of up to 25lbs.; periodic bending; long-term periods of sitting; long term periods operating a computer.
