Job Title:  Independent Living Services (ILS) Staff


Job Purpose: ILS teaches individuals with various developmental disabilities to develop essential daily living skills such as personal hygiene, cooking, budgeting, community access, other life skills etc., and enables them to live as independently as possible within their own homes or community settings.


Job Summary: Applicant must have a strong understanding of developmental disabilities and their impact on daily living skills. Experience working with individuals with diverse needs and abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and families. Ability to adapt one’s teaching methods to individual learning styles. Knowledge of community resources and support services. 

o    Valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance required in order to transport clients in the community when needed 


Job Duties and responsibilities:

● Providing individualized training in areas like meal preparation, laundry, personal grooming, medication management, basic household maintenance, and money management/budgeting tasks. 

● Guiding individuals with navigating community resources, transportation options, accessing healthcare, and managing personal schedules. 

● Evaluating individual needs and creating personalized plans that address specific skill development goals. 

● Assisting with daily tasks as needed, providing prompts and cues to facilitate skill acquisition. 

● Maintaining open communication with clients, families, and other support teams to ensure coordinated care. 

● Maintaining paperwork like medication logs, assessments of their progress, and daily case notes

 

Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) or degree


Salary and Benefits: Salary starting at $18.00 - $21.50 depending on experience


Working hours requirements: Flexible & Various shifts available
