Renaud's Bakery and Bistro, Inc is looking to fill a Pastry Chef position in La Habra, California (430 N Harbor Blvd, La Habra, CA, 90631). This is a temporary, full time peak load position, and we are looking to fill 1 job opening for employment from October 1st, 2022, to May 31st, 2023. The labor to be performed requests a unique French savoir-faire. The temporary worker is expected to create signature desserts and assist with production during the period of increased demand in 2022 and 2023.

Essential job duties
  • Working side by side by side with culinary staff in professional procedures and techniques to make high quality pastries in accordance with authentic and traditional French methods

  • Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread following French traditional and modern recipes

  • Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers

  • Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings, etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting

  • Implementing and utilizing quality standards for ingredients, taste, texture, and presentation for all pastries and desserts

  • Participating in and contributing to the development of pastries and desserts to compliment holiday menus

  • Creating and executing signature desserts and pastries specific to the summer season and the holiday season

  • Administering standardized practices to estimate and determine consumption, the ordering of supplies, and inventory maintenance for the coming periods of peak demand

  • Monitoring stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget

  • Checking quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking

  • Maintaining a lean and orderly cooking station and adhering to health and safety standards

  • Overseeing a team of junior pastry cooks and other staff members as necessary

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a French Professional Certificate in Patisserie

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience as a party chef

Hours
  • 45 hours per week, Monday – Friday 3:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • Overtime is available as needed. Overtime rate of pay is $44.46 / hour

Additional Information
  • Inbound Transportation - From the place from which the worker has come to work, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment, if the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will provide advance payment for transportation and subsistence (including meals, and, to the extent necessary, lodging).

  • Outbound Transportation - Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $14.00 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts.

  • Three-Fourth Guarantee - The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.

  • Tools, equipment & supplies - The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.

  • Miscellaneous - The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due; The pay period is every two weeks; The employer will make all payroll deductions required by law and will not make any deductions, which are not required by law; The employer will reimburse and H-2B worker in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. Subsidized housing is not available.
