Position Summary:

This recruitment is for Temporary Building Maintenance Worker through UCI's internal temporary service. UC Irvine's Temporary Employment Services (TES) is continuously seeking applicants to assist in filling the temporary needs of the UC Irvine Campus in Irvine, CA

Duties:

  • Assigned duties in multiple semi-skilled areas within the building trades to include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and lock repair.

  • Plumbing: Ability to troubleshoot and analyze all interior and exterior plumbing problems. Must have the skill to operate a power and hand snake.

  • Electrical: Ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems with electrical systems. Must have knowledge of breaker systems and time clocks. Must possess the skills to replace, repair, or install light fixtures, outlets, switches, garbage disposals, heating system and bathroom fans.

  • Carpentry: Ability to perform minor interior and exterior carpentry projects. Must possess skills in furniture repair, door and doorframe replacement, light framing, repair of wall patching and drywall, acoustical ceiling repair and floor tiling.

  • Painting: Responsible for maintaining the interior or exterior of assigned buildings. Possess skills to prepare surfaces for application of paint materials. Ability to apply paint, varnish, stains, enamel or lacquer to various interior and exterior surfaces. Application can be accomplished by brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Ability to read and write English to submit written reports and work orders.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and serve as the work leader for a small group of Building Maintenance Workers, temporary staff or student staff.

  • Perform other related duties as required. May, work independently, as a part of a regular maintenance crew, or as assistants to skilled tradesmen and may drive in the course of duties.

Compensation Range:

$23.07 is the expected pay within the full salary range of $23.07 and $30.46 hourly
