Seasonal employees are temporary workers hired by the Forest Service to complete vital agency work during peak times. Most seasonal employees work during summer, usually May through September.
The Forest Service hires anywhere between 10,000 and 13,000 temporary employees every year for jobs in rural and urban locations across the country.
Most temporary or seasonal employees spend the bulk of their time in the field.
