Westminster School District: Student Transportation Assistance

JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Bus Driver in the transporting of special needs students requiring special attention and care on buses. Rides on the bus with the children in transit; assists with the loading of students, providing physical assistance if needed; assists in maintaining order and discipline on the bus; and performs related duties as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination equivalent to (1) a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); (2) paid or volunteer experience working with children, and/or course-work in child psychology or similar subject matter areas and the willingness and ability to participate in in-service training dealing with problems affecting children.

THE EXAMINATION

  • Candidates may be examined on the following: a performance test which is Pass/Fail and an oral examination, weighted 100%: knowledge of the behavior of children; ability to work with children and staff; ability to respond to emergencies, ability to follow directions; and the ability to tie down a wheelchair.
