JOB SUMMARY:

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) provides a powerful voice and a meaningful connection for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Their vision is that every child in foster care has an advocate they can depend on to help them reach their fullest potential. The Event Assistant will support the day-to-day operations and ongoing initiatives of the Development Event Manager. This position has an important role in maintaining event documents and spreadsheets, assisting with communications to event guests and volunteers, procurement and organizations of auction items, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Contacting and collecting guest lists, guest contact information, and dietary restrictions from event attendees

  • Inputting received auction items into shared Google Sheets document

  • Collecting and uploading auction gesture images into Dropbox

  • Creating certificates for auction items

  • Fill out and/or collect auction donation forms from donors

  • Assist with contacting people to volunteer for events

  • Update event operations binders with relevant materials

  • Act as Volunteer Lead at events

  • Sit in meetings and interact with leadership

SKILLS DEVELOPED OVER WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Contacting and collecting guest lists, guest contact information, and dietary restrictions from event attendees

  • Inputting received auction items into shared Google Sheets document, collecting and uploading auction gesture images into Dropbox, creating certificates for auction items

  • Fill out and/or collect auction donation forms from donors

  • Assist with contacting people to volunteer for events

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with Google Apps for Work, Microsoft Office and general databas experience preferred

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, outgoing, organized, team player and flexible

  • Must understand the need for discretion and extreme privacy for clients and donors

  • A strong heart for philanthropy is required


Schedule:

Schedule will be 15-20 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5pm twice a week. Monday or Tuesday is optional, with Wednesdays being required to attend Development Team meetings. Potential for 2-3 offsite events in Orange County. Schedule will be known in advance and adjusted accordingly.
