SALARY RANGE:

$5,000/month to $6,080/month in five annual steps

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under direction, performs a variety of complex secretarial and clerical duties in support of a major District function; plans and organizes office activities and communications to relieve the supervisor of administrative and clerical details. Positions in this classification may be assigned to work ten or twelve months per year.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or its equivalent, supplemented by course work or training in the use of computers, secretarial courses, office procedures, and two years of recent secretarial or increasingly responsible office clerical experience required; ability to type 45 words per minute from clear copy.


CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate is a person of integrity and works confidentially with discretion. He or she has the ability to handle multiple priorities while delivering efficient and courteous service to all staff levels and the general public. Successful candidates are well-organized self-starters who work with minimal supervision.


THE EXAMINATION:

Candidates may be examined on their knowledge of Standard American English usage, basic arithmetic, office methods, record keeping, filing, and the ability to type, use a PC and computer software.
