Position: Creative Director – Full-time


About Blizzard Entertainment:Blizzard is known for iconic game universes such as Warcraft, Over watch, Diablo, and StarCraft. As part of Activision Blizzard, now under Microsoft, the company delivers critically acclaimed, genre-defining games enjoyed by millions worldwide.


Overview: Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Creative Director to lead and expand the creative vision for a new, unannounced game. This role oversees world building, narrative, and visual design, guiding the development of the game’s IP from concept to release. The Creative Director will work closely with art and game design leadership, define core themes and characters, and maintain the visual aesthetic and spirit of the game.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • U.S. base pay range: $134,000 – $247,900 annually, based on experience, performance, and location

Responsibilities:

  • Fully own the process of developing the game’s IP, including settings, characters, themes, and story arcs

  • Champion the vision for key characters and core fantasies, ensuring they are intentionally delivered

  • Create and refine communication materials to share the vision with the team, stakeholders, and partners

  • Promote diversity and inclusion within the team and in the stories created

  • Participate in team playtesting and provide feedback

  • Develop partnerships with internal departments and external agencies

  • Stay current on industry trends

  • Solve complex visual design challenges with clear, high-quality solutions

  • Maintain the game’s visual style while bringing a personal creative perspective

  • Facilitate communication, organization, and accountability across all departments

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire teams, fostering collaboration and a production-focused mindset

  • Set clear performance goals and conduct regular reviews to ensure growth and alignment


Requirements:

  • 15+ years of game design experience focused on AAA titles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 4+ years leading game design teams and defining creative direction

  • Strong background in IP world building and narrative design

  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external partners

  • Strong project management and strategic planning skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Shipped at least one AAA title as a creative leader

  • Online portfolio demonstrating relevant artistic skills
