Job Summary
The Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating the cash register, processing merchandise, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe retail environment. This position supports daily store operations while promoting Goodwill’s mission and values through teamwork, professionalism, and outstanding customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate cash registers, process cash, credit card, and debit card transactions, and make accurate change
• Answer customer inquiries in person and over the phone in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
• Assist customers with locating merchandise and direct them to appropriate areas of the store, including fitting rooms
• Receive and process donated items and merchandise from production centers
• Sort, inspect, price, tag, hang, and stock merchandise on the sales floor
• Rotate merchandise, replenish stock, and create attractive product displays
• Process store returns and prepare merchandise shipments for transfer to other retail locations
• Maintain and organized sales racks, shelves, and displays
• Perform housekeeping duties, including dusting fixtures and furniture, sweeping floors, and cleaning restrooms as needed
• Ensure merchandise and store areas remain clean, organized, and presentable
• Safeguard company property, including donated goods and store merchandise
• Report incidents involving theft, damage, or unauthorized possession of company property
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe work environment
• Promote teamwork by assisting coworkers and sharing knowledge and information as needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, coworkers, and program participants
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for the duration of the work shift
• Ability to comfortably lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to perform repetitive movements including bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, and walking
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments as needed
• Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions
Occasional (1–33% of workday): Balancing, Climbing, Kneeling, Pushing, Reaching Above or Below Shoulder Level, Stooping, Twisting the Body, Exposure to Outdoor Environments, Dust, and Moving Mechanical Parts.
Frequent (34–66% of workday): Bending, Carrying, Crouching, Flexing Wrists, Grasping and Squeezing, Handling Merchandise and Materials, Hearing, Lifting, Pulling, Talking, Turning the Body, Walking.
Continuous (67–100% of workday): Fingering and Fine Dexterity, Feeling and Touch Sensitivity, Standing, Near Vision, Midrange Vision, Depth Perception, Color Vision, Peripheral Vision, Working Indoors.

This position requires working in a retail setting with frequent interaction with customers, staff, and program participants. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required.

Monday – Saturday: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
Sunday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
