Position Description:

NOCE ESL & Citizenship is a fast-paced, growing department with three main sites

and 12+ off-site locations through North Orange County, plus Distance Education

offerings. We currently offer classes M-F 8:00a-9:30p. Our team is dedicated to providing

excellent support to help students navigate the learning process and achieve their

educational, work, and personal goals. We are looking for dynamic, innovative employees

with the ability to maintain a positive and solution-oriented attitude, willingness to learn

new technologies as appropriate, and flexibility while working with frequent

interruptions.


Program Description:

Assist ESL Program with community engagement support for NOCE ESL off-site/community-based classes, as requested by Program Coordinator, ESL Program Manager, and ESL Associate Dean to help ensure consistent enrollment and participation. Support presentations/Q&A at NOCE sites and community events. Engage and support students via phone, text, email, Zoom. Participate in scheduled events and offsite visits; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.


Minimum Qualifications:

Sensitivity to students from diverse backgrounds. Comfortable giving presentations

at public events. Must be willing to make phone calls, data entry, travel to various

off-site locations within North Orange County, and reflect patient and professional

customer service skills.


Effective communication and collaboration skills. Can handle multiple tasks at one

time; meet targeted deadlines on time; interact and work with many groups/

individuals throughout the organization; is organized, creative, resourceful, and

efficient; takes initiative and is able to work unsupervised as well as with groups.


PE must be PC and Internet proficient. Familiarity with social media, Zoom, and

Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Minimum 2+ years of experience in project/administrative.


Desired Qualifications:

Bilingual/Multilingual in one or more of the most-common native languages of

our student population, including, but not limited to: Spanish, Korean,

Vietnamese, Chinese, Farsi, Arabic.


Project coordination experience in community partnerships/engagement.

Firsthand experience as an ESL learner.

Familiarity with graphic design and/or social media marketing.

Competency with data collection.

Testing experience with English language learners in community college setting

(i.e. CASAS & EL Civics assessments both virtually and in-person).


Funding:

100% Categorically Funded


Pay Rate/Hours:

$25/hour for a max of 26 hours per week.

Duration:

Temporary, part-time position. Summer position set to begin June-August


Working Conditions:

May need to work remotely as requested; Internet required for remote work. May need to lift/carry boxes to deliver and administer assessments.
