Job Summary:
The BuyBack Recycling Center Corpsmember works at OCCC’s public buy-back facility in Irvine, assisting customers with redeeming CA CRV containers, accurately sorting materials, and supporting daily operations.
Essential Job Duties:
Greet and assist the public in redeeming eligible CRV containers in a professional manner
Accurately sort aluminum, glass, plastic, and other materials by type to ensure correct processing and value
Weight, process, and prepare materials for outbound shipment
Follow cash-handling and transaction procedures with attention to accuracy and integrity
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
Support basic inventory tracking and promptly report issues to the supervisor
Participate in required training and educational activities
Requirements/Qualifications:
Must be 18 – 24 years old
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to perform physical work, including regularly lifting 25-50 lbs. and standing for extended periods
Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with the public
Demonstrated trustworthiness and commitment to accuracy, safety, and professional conduct
Work Experience Skills Developed:
Greet and assist the public in redeeming eligible CRV containers
Accurately sort aluminum, glass, plastic, and other materials by type
Weight, process, and prepare materials for outbound shipment
Accurate cash-handling and transaction processing
Work area cleanliness and safety
Basic inventory processing
Hours of Operation:
Tuesday – Saturday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
